weeds
My family and I attempt to grow some of our own food and during the spring of 2012 we were very busy. The unusually mild Iowa winter led to a fast start; we quickly enjoyed spinach and lettuce and the chard, kale and snow peas arrived in the next few weeks.
Through our cultivation, we prefer traditional husbandry methods that require slow and deliberate work. These efforts naturally connect with printmaking - during both processes nothing comes instantly. They demand time and intention. Both follow ordered rituals, from the tearing of paper to adjusting the rollers, to the spreading of compost and the pulling of weeds.
